It’s the very first half-hour sketch comedy series that solely employs black female writers, and is executive produced by Thede and Insecure’s Issa Rae the six-episode series also boasts a star-studded guests list that includes Kelly Rowland, Angela Bassett, Laverne Cox, Gina Torres and Lena Waithe. With the groundbreaking A Black Lady Sketch Show, Thede has reached an unprecedented level of artistry. Thede also made television history as the first Black female head writer for Comedy Central’s late night series, The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore in 2015, and created/hosted/executive produced her own late-night BET series, The Rundown with Robin Thede in 2017, which made her one of the few women in history to even host a late night talk show. The witty impresario has had many impressive creative accomplishments prior to her HBO hit, including writing for numerous A-list comedians like Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, Anthony Anderson and Jamie Foxx. The series, from creator, executive producer, showrunner and star, Robin Thede, has already been renewed for a second season. The first season of HBO's brilliant and brilliantly funny A Black Lady Sketch Show may be coming to a close, but fans need not worry.
